The Trump Group contract was terminated by New York Metropolis, which closed the ice rinks in Central Park

Two ice rinks operated by the Trump Organization will close at 4 p.m. on Sunday in Central Park as the city cancels its contract with the company. The de Blasio government’s decision to cut ties was made after the Capitol uprising, CBS New York reports.

The leases for the Wollman ice rink and the Lasker ice rink will end on February 26th. The ice rinks will be closed on Sunday to allow the Trump organization to move out.

Families refused to move, and one skater asked for more time. “So much has been taken from us this year, and this was one thing that kept us all together,” Mya Henning told CBS New York. “There are only six weeks left that we ask for.”

Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and son of former President Trump, made a statement to CBS New York calling the move a “political stunt that only hurts New Yorkers.”

The Trump Organization will also no longer operate the carousel in Central Park and a golf course in the Bronx. The Trump organization appeals to the city’s decision to cut ties.

The city is looking for replacement operators, although it is unclear when a replacement will be named.
