The New York Times Company announces nominations for the Board of Directors

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE) – The New York Times Company announced today that its board of directors has appointed Beth Brooke for election as a director at its 2021 annual general meeting on April 28. With the exception of Robert E., all current directors will stand for re-election. Denham, retiring director since 2008.

Ms. Brooke, 61, was the global vice chairman of public policy at Ernst & Young LLP from 2007 to 2019, where she was also a member of the global executive team and global sponsor of the company’s diversity and inclusivity efforts. Prior to that, she held various roles in tax practice management, communication, corporate development, sustainability and stakeholder engagement since joining the company in 1981. She is also a director of eHealth, Inc. and a member of various private and nonprofit bodies, including the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committees. In addition, Ms. Brooke has been named to Forbes’ “100 Most Powerful Women in the World” on several occasions, and she co-chairs the LGBTI Global Equality Partnership Steering Committee with the World Economic Forum.

Mr. Denham, who served for 13 years, served as the chairman from 2013 to 2019. He has served on several committees of the Board of Directors, including the Nominations and Governance Committee and Finance Committee, which he chaired, and the Compensation Committee, which he currently chairs. Mr. Denham was a partner in the law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP from 1973 to 1991 and since 1998. In the intervening years, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Salomon Inc from 1992 to 1998, after joining the firm as General Counsel in 1991.
