The annual New York State Dairy Princess Pageant goes digital
SYRACUSE, NY (WWTI) – The next New York State Dairy Princess will be crowned this week.
For the 58th time, County Dairy Princess from all over New York State will participate in the American Dairy Association North East’s New York State Dairy Princess Pageant. However, in 2021 the event will have a virtual twist.
The two-day pageant will crown a New York State Dairy Princess and two alternatives. Participants are interviewed, given spontaneous questions, deliver a speech, tested for product knowledge, writing skills, and informal interaction with others.
Before crowning a winner, ADANE shared that the typical role of a dairy princess is to act as the dairy farmers’ spokesperson and advocate, engaging with consumers and educating them about how farmers care for cows and their land and the importance of them Dairy industry for it is the economy of the states.
However, ADANE also announced that due to COVID-19, many typical responsibilities for milk princesses have changed.

The parade participants have all been active as the district’s milk princess since spring 2020 and have completed the work to promote milk and milk products in their communities. As the COVID-19 pandemic increased the need for food aid, local milk princesses helped promote milk distribution events and hand out dairy products at various events.
The 58th New York State Dairy Princess Pageant will take place on February 16, 2021 and will be broadcast live on its Facebook page from 6 p.m. The competition will be conducted in accordance with New York State COVID-19 guidelines.
