Now you can spend New 12 months’s Eve on a New York skyscraper – hosted by Mariah Carey

All I want for Christmas is to stand on top of a New York skyscraper with Mariah Carey on New Year’s Eve and watch the ball fall in Times Square to mark the start of 2021.

It sounds like the finale of an over the top vacation romcom, but it’s actually the latest in a long line of stays and experiences offered by Airbnb.

A happy couple can spend New Years Eve on the (securely isolated) terrace of the Nasdaq building in Times Square, almost directly under the famous “ball” of a building – with Mariah Carey as the host.

During these pandemic-ridden times, Times Square will be nearly empty – so you can be sure that you will have a New Years Eve like no other as you say goodbye to 2020. The ball will still fall, as will traditional buckets of confetti, and very few others will be watching the show live.

Mariah will only be able to visit virtually, of course, but the queen of celebratory glamor will come in to give the couple a live personal serenade via video call and has selected a menu of celebratory treats and cocktails to help toast 2021 . Whoever grabs the stay will also receive a piece of crystal from this year’s New Year’s ball design as a souvenir.

Before the night starts, guests can relax in a lounge with books and board games, dress up with a suitcase of New Year-themed hats and glasses, and enjoy dinner prepared by a private chef. Best of all, the stay comes with $ 5,000 shopping credit to enjoy along New York’s famous 5th Avenue.

The experience is designed to adhere to Airbnb’s Covid-19 safety practices, including wearing masks, social distancing, and a five-step “improved cleaning process”, as well as state and city guidelines.

Applications open on December 21st and the stay is a reasonable $ 21 per person but is unfortunately only open to New Yorkers. Airbnb’s other online experiences include a decorative masterclass with Kris Jenner and a carolling with Idina Menzel.
