New York Yankees Spring Training Live Updates at Detroit Tigers

LAKELAND, Florida – We’re in Lakeland for the second time this week as the Yankees prepare to take on the Detroit Tigers.

Before Publix Field’s first pitch at the Joker Merchant Stadium, let’s start with the starting grid and some related information.

New York Yankees

Brett Gardner RF

Gary Sánchez C.

Jay Bruce 1B

Clint Frazier LF

Derek Dietrich 2B

Kyle Higashioka DH

Mike Tauchman CF.

Thairo Estrada 3B

Tyler Wade SS

Jameson Taillon SP

Brett Gardner leads in right field. With Clint Frazier starting on the left this year, Aaron Boone would like Gardner to expand his outfield flexibility as New York’s fourth outfielder this year.

Otherwise, Friday is a good example of the defensive versatility of this team. Jay Bruce moves to the first, Derek Dietrich does a few reps on the second base, and Thairo Estrada moves to the hot corner.

Jordan Montgomery throws back live hitting practice at George M. Steinbrenner Field, facing thugs like Luke Voit and other starters who have not traveled to Lakeland.

Detroit Tigers

Robbie Grossman LF

Jeimer Candelario 3B

Willi Castro SS

Miguel Cabrera DH

Niko Goodrum 1B

Wilson Ramos C.

Issac Paredes 2B

Victor Reyes RF

Jacoby Jones CF.

Julio Tehran SP

Another opportunity for the Yankees to face future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. New York lost 6: 5 to Detroit at this stadium on Tuesday.

First inning

Jay Bruce is still loose and tears a basic hit on the left field. However, that was all the Yankees could manage on the offensive.

Second inning

Tyler Wade lays the Yankees on the board with a sack fly loaded with bases. Then Brett Gardner follows with an RBI single-to-center field. There are 2-0 Yankees who go to the bottom of the second.
