New York Yankees Spring Training Live Updates against Detroit Tigers
TAMPA – One final exhibition game before the Yankees head north for opening day.
New York will host the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field. One final improvement is the end of the game in the Grapefruit League.
To prepare you for the first pitch, here are the starting gridlines, planned pitches, and some related readings.
New York Yankees
DJ LeMahieu 2B
Gleyber Torres SS
Aaron Hicks CF.
Giancarlo Stanton DH
Gio Urshela 3B
Jay Bruce 1B
Clint Frazier RF
Gary Sánchez C.
Brett Gardner LF
Domingo German SP
Germán won fifth in the Yankees’ starting rotation with a great spring and he will look to build with another strong outing before kicking off the third game of the season next weekend.
This is so close to the full grid we’ve seen … unless there’s no Aaron Judge. Brett Gardner gets the start in his place. Do not think that this is a cause for panic. The judge was listed on New York’s training schedule to complete the punch training on Monday morning. He’s probably not resting until before opening day, but we will continue to monitor the situation.
Victor Reyes RF
Daz Cameron CF.
Jeimer Candelario 3B
Miguel Cabrera 1B
Jonathan Schoop DH
Harold Castro SS
Wilson Ramos C.
Isaac Paredes 2B
Akil Baddoo LF
Jose Ureña SP
New York have gone with two draws between 14 and 11 up to that point.

The first pitch was pushed back just a little to 1:15 p.m. ET. The tarp used to be on the field due to some rain in the area, but the field is being tended for the game as we speak.
Giancarlo Stanton brings the Yankees 1-0 into the front with a ball from an RBI double at the top of the left field wall. The double was achieved by Gleyber Torres, who was earlier in the frame.
Germán gives up a run for the first time this spring and lets go of Tiger’s youngster Akil Baddoo twice. This landed in the hall behind the stands in the right field.
Miguel Cabrera takes on Chad Green for a triple home run against Taco. It’s a 5-1 game. Darren O’Day comes in to relieve Green after the homer.
Here at George M. Steinbrenner Field it is still 5-1 when the starters get out of this game.
Thairo Estrada shows his strength again this spring. He returns to the left, his second in as many days after going deep in Clearwater on Sunday. It is his third long ball of spring.
FINAL: Yankees 2, Tigers 5
New York falls in this case, putting together only four isolated base goals against Detroit (including one home game by Estrada).
That’s enough for spring training! The next time we see the Yankees on the field, it will be Thursday afternoon against the Blue Jays on opening day at Yankee Stadium.
Until then, thank you for following this spring with these live threads, and we’ll see you right back here during the regular season!
