New York Yankees Information: The very best view that impresses on the camp
Sports illustrated | Max Goodman: One of the best prospects for the Yankees is to turn your head into camp after just a few days. Austin Wells, last year’s first-round pick, impressed Aaron Boone with his clout and strength. Boone called Wells “as strong as anyone in the camp” and “a guy who loves to hit”. His position on the field has yet to be determined, but Wells’ bat should do well on the Yankees in a few years.
Sports illustrated | Max Goodman: Not only is Jameson Taillon a great pitcher who will fill a void for the Yankees, but he’s also a fighter and has an excellent pitcher mind. Taillon wrote his family a photo of his pinstripe uniform before he put it on for the first time, saying the Yankees trade “kindled a new fire” under him. Taillon is a student of the game and a close friend of Gerrit Cole. He is ready for his new challenge with the Yankees.
New York Post | Ken Davidoff: The Yankees already have DJ “The Machine” LeMahieu. Now they have two machines with Corey “Klubot” Kluber. True to its robotic nature, Kluber really has no opinion on the popular nickname, but is poised to take root in New York. His pitching coach and manager offered their take on the club’s personality and how they believe the two-time Cy Young Award winner will help the team in 2021.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: After a successful debut with the Yankees last year, Deivi García has a new perspective on entering a competitive big league camp. García spoke at length about how to better read opposing thugs, what it’s like to fulfill your dreams and how his attitude goes into the 2021 season. García is in a competition with Domingo Germán and Clarke Schmidt for fifth place on the Yankees’ grid behind Cole, Kluber, Taillon and Jordan Montgomery.
