New York woman makes very creepy find behind her bathroom mirror, goes viral on TikTok

A woman in New York City went viral on TikTok after posting a video series documenting her journey to discover a secret, uninhabited apartment behind her bathroom mirror.

In the first video of her four-part saga, Samantha Hartsoe said she was trying to find the source of cold air that was pouring into her Manhattan apartment.

When she discovered the air was coming out from behind her bathroom mirror, Hartsoe removed it from the wall. She was stunned by what she discovered.

There was a large square hole in the wall that peered into a dark room – a scene viewers compared to Oscar-winning Parasite and the 1992 horror film Candyman, in which a murderous ghost repeated behind the victims shows his name in the mirror.

Hartsoe finally decided to venture to the other side of her bathroom.

“Curiosity killed the cat, curiosity will kill me,” Hartsoe told NBC New York.

“I don’t know what’s on the other side of my bathroom.”

The videos showed Hartsoe, clad in a face mask, headlight and hammer, twisting her body into the hole, much to the horror of her roommates.

“My roommates definitely thought I was going to be dead,” she said.

“I would walk normally in every corner and then be like that [moving her head] check.”

There was an entire apartment across the hole that appeared to be unfinished and uninhabited, the video showed.

Garbage bags and an uninstalled toilet lay on the floors.

At some point, Hartsoe explains that there are signs of life after coming across a water bottle.

After examining both floors of the apartment, Hartsoe locked the front door to the empty apartment and returned to her apartment through the hole in her bathroom.

“When I returned [my roommates] were excited, “she said.

More than nine million viewers saw Hartsoe’s mysterious journey on TikTok as of Friday afternoon.

Hartsoe added that she has not yet contacted her landlord but has contacted the maintenance department to fix the hole behind her mirror.

Co-users of TikTok were shocked by Hartsoe’s discovery.

“The fact that the door was unlocked and the brand’s youngest water bottle is an instant reminder of a spy situation,” one person wrote on their video.

“Even if it’s an apartment that is being renovated, obviously if someone can crawl through the mirror your apartment is not safe, something is wrong,” said another person.

“This place fails the vibe check. I’m still scared for you, ”said a third person.
