New York City Public High Schools will reopen on March 22nd, All Sports will return in mid-April – CBS New York

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – New York City public high schools will reopen later this month, and all school sports will resume in mid-April, the mayor said Monday.

From March 22nd, students can return to the classroom.

Approximately 55,000 students – or 20% of the high school population – are expected to return. The rest of them decided to learn remotely as early as the fall.

The mayor said he was considering adding an additional enrollment deadline this school year.

The schools switched to distance learning last November and have gone into the holiday season. Elementary schools were the first to reopen for personal learning on December 7th, followed by middle schools on February 25th.
