More than 25% of veterans in West New York have received the COVID-19 vaccine

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – Our local veterans are receiving the COVID-19 vaccine at a very impressive rate.

Dr. John Sellick of the VA Hospital in Buffalo reports that more than 25% of veterans in West New York received the shot.

The national average is 16%.

Dr. Sellick tells us that the VA has the upper hand compared to other vaccination sites.

“You know one of the things that we had an advantage because the VA has its own vaccines. So that we didn’t have to rely on the state for our vaccines, the VA had its own supply, which it set up. ”

Dr. John Sellick, Buffalo VA

Dr. Sellick says one problem the VA is facing is getting the vaccine into rural communities.
