Man arrested in New York after threatening to kill Pelosi, AOC, Schumer on Fb

A Queens, NY man who allegedly made repeated death threats against Democratic Congressmen on social media, including threats to assassinate them on the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, was arrested Tuesday morning by FBI agents and NYPD officials.

Brendan Hunt, of Ridgewood, Queens, a former Occupy Wall Street activist and part-time filmmaker and actor, was accused of knowingly threatening death threats against US officials based on posts allegedly posted on Facebook, Bitchute, in December and January and Parler, sometimes under the alias “X-Ray Ultra”.

Hunt, the son of a retired Queens Family Court judge, has served as assistant court analyst for the New York State Office of Court Administration since 2016, according to a spokesman for the office. After his arrest on Tuesday, he was suspended without pay. Blog posts on his website in 2011 include articles and photos from the Occupy Wall Street protests, in which Hunt identified himself as a member of the drum circle in several photos. Almost a decade later, he called President-elect Joe Biden a communist on social media while, according to the FBI, he urged others to take up arms during the inauguration.

On December 6, Hunt posted several Facebook posts about the assassination of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from California and the new Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, both from New York. In one post he wrote that he wanted Trump to “hold a public execution of Pelosi aoc schumer, etc.” according to court documents.

Following the January 6 uprising of the Capitol by Trump supporters, Hunt used two right-wing extremist social media platforms to threaten to kill the same three Democrats during Biden’s inauguration on January 20, according to the complaint.

His alleged “xyrayultra” account on Bitchute – a lightly moderated video upload site preferred by right-wing extremists – posted a short video on January 8th entitled “KILL YOUR SENATORS”. In the video, Hunt spoke directly to the camera and said, “[T]Hey we will come after us, they will kill us, so we have to kill them first. . . [S]To get your guns show yourself to DC … if anyone has a gun give it to me, I’ll go there myself and shoot and kill it. “

A few days later, Hunt allegedly made a similar comment on a post on Parler, an alternative social media platform that attracted conservatives as well as right-wing extremists. Parler went offline the weekend after the Capitol riot after being cut off by major service providers who accused him of failing to monitor violent content.

In response to a Parler post that said Americans must now act responsibly, which the FBI attributes to the now pardoned former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, Hunt said the complaint was again threatening his inauguration. An account tied to the same email address as Hunt’s Facebook profile commented, “Let’s go, January 20th, bring your guns.”

Hunt was taken into custody Tuesday morning and is being prosecuted by the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Hunt is currently not represented by a lawyer.
