Cole and Cuomo are brothers-in-law for more than 30 years. Cole is married to Maria Cuomo, the daughter of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, who died in 2015, and the sister of current New York Governor Cuomo.
Cole also posted the same comments on Instagram, which New York Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis and actor Jeremy Piven liked. “Agreed !! Let the investigation take place. #Donotresign”, Mallis commented.
The story goes on
Seven women have come forward in the past few weeks accusing Governor Cuomo of sexual misconduct. Others, most of whom are former aides to the governor, have described the work environment as toxic, especially to women. The governor and his administration are also being criticized for their handling of nursing homes in New York in the first few weeks of the pandemic, including the alleged allegations His top aides modified the data to hide a higher death toll for nursing home residents.
Meanwhile, more than a dozen members of the state and national congressional delegation have called on Cuomo to resign, including House Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Brown, Nydia Velazquez, Antonio Delgado, Jerrold Nadler, Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer and Carolyn B. Maloney.
On Friday, the New York governor said on a media conference call, “I will not resign.” He added, “What is being said just did not happen and so one has to wait to find out the facts. As I said earlier and I firmly believe that my administration has always represented, women have the right to speak up and be heard – and I fully encourage that, but I also want to make it clear: there is still one Question of truth. “
Last year, Cole launched his most recent initiative: The Mental Health Coalition, which Governor Cuomo and his brother, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, supported. It’s a large-scale engagement that brings together nonprofits, corporations, brands, celebrities, and influencers to destigmatize mental health.
In September, the Governor of New York appeared in the 2020 American Image Awards, presented and produced by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) to award Cole the “Person of the Year” award.
