“Completely terrible” 100 residents of the New York nursing residence die of Covid-19
According to the coronavirus, almost 100 residents have died in a nursing home in New York City.
Mayor Bill de Blasio has described the outbreak at the Isabella Geriatric Center in Manhattan as “absolutely terrible”.
A spokesman for the facility said it had problems securing personal protective equipment and test kits at the beginning of the pandemic and therefore could not contain the virus.
Meanwhile, the FDA has given the go-ahead for the emergency use of the Ebola drug Rem-des-Ivir to treat the coronavirus.
This means the antiviral drug can now be used on people who are hospitalized with severe Covid-19.
A recent study showed that the drug helped reduce recovery time for people seriously ill with the virus.
