2021 Oscars Nominees List – The New York Times

At this time last year, the red carpets were already in storage again.

The 93rd Academy Awards will take place on April 25, more than two months later than last year. The award recognizes films that were released in a year when the cinemas were largely closed.

Streaming services, which were already on the rise as a presence in the awards season, are expected to dominate in April, both with their own productions (such as Netflix’s “Mank”) and traditional studio films released via streaming platforms due to the pandemic (such as Searchlight Pictures’ “Nomadland” which is streamed on Hulu).
